Since Intelligent Spas conducted the Tariff Survey in June, more tariffs have been confirmed by the USA across a range of industries and countries. The WTO Chief, Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala told Reuters in September, the tariffs were causing ‘unprecedented’ disruption to global trade rules.
In our survey, spa businesses stated they were implementing a variety of strategies to mitigate the impact of the tariffs, including buying from domestic suppliers (60%) and increasing prices (33%). Other strategies are summarised in the graph below.

Of those who stated they had not experienced any impact to business operations as at the time of the survey, 32% had already changed their financial forecasts and budgets. The full impact of the tariffs could be delayed and felt harder in 2026, as stock piles run out and new orders are subject to the tariffs.
